Richard Jenkins, ATA VP At-Large, Dies; Was Head of Diamond Transportation

Richard Jenkins, co-owner of Diamond Transportation System Inc., Racine, Wis., and a vice president at-large for American Trucking Associations, died Nov. 24 at his home in Racine, following a lengthy fight with cancer. He was 74.

Jenkins, who served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, began working at Diamond Transportation, the company founded by his parents, L.R. and Valeria, in 1953 and a specialized hauler with service throughout the United States and Canada

Jenkins served as chairman of the Wisconsin Motor Carrier Association from 2004 to 2006 and received the association's highest honor, the Babbitt Award, in 2003 for outstanding service.
