EPA Denies California's Call For Greenhouse Gas Limits

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency last week denied California's .request for a waiver allowing it to institute strict greenhouse gas limits on cars, Ught trucks and eventually heavy trucks.
California's Republican governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger, quickly responded that the state would file a lawsuit in the next three weeks seeking to block EPAs decision, which other state officials also decried.
"It is disappointing that the federal government is standing in our way and ignoring the will of tens of millions of people across the nation," Schwarzenegger said Dec. 19. "California sued to compel the agency to act on our waiver, and now we will sue to overturn todays decision and allow Califomians to protect our environment."
