OOIDA, ATA Seek to Block I-80 Tolls
Transport Topics, December, 2007 by Anonymous
The Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association sent a letter last week to the U.S. Department of Transportation asking the agency to deny the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission's request to toll Interstate 80.
The letter was signed jointly by American Trucking Associations, the American Highway Users Alliance and the Northeast Association of State Transportation Officials.
The groups said the turnpike authority and state's Department of Transportation have not met criteria needed to implement tolls. They also said tolls amount to double taxation and are financially detrimental to truckers and have proven to cause unsafe conditions on alternate routes. - Transport Topics
