Berkshire Hathaway Agrees to Buy 60% Share Of Trucking Supplier Marmon Holdings for $4.5 Bln.

Berkshire Hathaway Inc. said it will purchase 60% of Marmon Holdings Inc. from the Pritzker family for $4.5 billion.
Marmon operates more than 125 manufacturing and service businesses, including Union Tank Car, Fontaine Trailer Co. and several other firms that make components for heavyduty trucks and trailers.
Warren Buffett, chairman of Berkshire Hathaway, Omaha, Neb., said the remaining 40% of Marmon will be acquired over a five- to six-year period, with consideration based on future earnings.
Berkshire Hathaway owns two transportation-related companies - trailer leasing and rental firm Xtra Corp. and grocery and foodservice delivery firm McLane Co. - along with other holdings in insurance, utilities, finance, retailing and manufacturing sectors....
