New Life for Old Parts Is Another Way of Recycling

Recycled material comes directly from the scrapping of a truck, and it also can be a byproduct of remanufacturing operations.

Weller Reman Center in Grand Rapids, Mich., rebuilds certain components, most of which come from Peterbilts and Kenworths owned by waste-hauling companies and school districts. The bread and butter of the 38-year-old company's business is Allison Transmission, and it is not unusual for Weller to rebuild more than 100 transmissions a day.
