S.C. Can Seek Land for I-73 Road Project

U.S. DOT Also Authorizes State to Toll New Section of Highway
South Carolina can begin the process of land acquisition for a new section of Interstate 73 between Myrtle Beach and Interstate 95, the U.S. Department of Transportation said.
On Feb. 8, DOT signed the environmental impact statement for the highway. The state now can begin exploring financing options and securing right-of-way acquisitions to start constructing this new section of 1-73, DOT said.
DOT approved only the southern portion of 1-73 in South Carolina. Eventually, 1-73 will stretch from Soutii Carolina to Michigan.
