Data about travel time and traffic speed on a section of the East Coasf s Interstate 95 corridor will be delivered to participating transportation departments to help them coordinate the flow of cars and trucks, under a contract awarded by a coalition of 16 states.
Inrix Inc., a Kirkland, Wash., company that grew out of a Microsoft project designed to predict traffic, was selected to blend real-time information from traditional road sensors and more than 750,000 vehicles (including commercial vehicles) equipped with Global Positioning Systems.
