Ariz. Panel Backs Road-Partnership Bills But Rejects Giving DOT Wider Authority

An Arizona Senate panel approved several bills last month that would lead to the creation of certain public-private partnerships, but it rejected other measures that would have given the state's Department of Transportation wider authority to seek additional partnerships.

The state's Senate Transportation Committee on Feb. 19 approved a bill that would require the Arizona Department of Transportation to seek partnerships by July 2009 to help finance the construction of new high-occupancy toll lanes.
