PepsiCo head honcho meets FM.

Jan. 15--NEW DELHI -- In a week when PepsiCo India top brass is in Malaysia to give finishing touches to its annual budgets and plans for Year 2005, the beverage major's worldwide president and chief financial officer, Indra Nooyi was seen hobnobbing in the corridors of power in Delhi, that included meeting up with FM P Chidambaram, and also possibly, the Prime Minister.

Although the company said it was not in a position to comment, this lead to speculation in the industry that the cola major was lobbying with the government to do away with the 8 percent special excise duty levied on soft drinks, a long pending industry demand.
