Handicrafts' exports register 25% growth in FY05.

Apr. 23--NEW DELHI -- Export of handicrafts has risen by 24.5 percent during '04-05, as the segment has managed to tap emerging markets like Latin America, Central Asia, Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and African nations.
Provisional data indicates that export of handicrafts from the country increased by Rs 2,568 crore during the previous financial year.
Exports during the year were Rs 14,033 crore as compared to Rs 10,465 crore in '03-04, according to a statement issued. In dollar terms, exports increased to $672m in '04-05, registering a growth of 29 percent.
