Apr. 23--NEW DELHI -- This could prove to be India's golden chance to participate in the development of the Internet. Internet's main standards body, worldwide web consortium (W3C), hosted by MIT Lab, is reducing the fee for companies in countries like India by up to 60 percent. Leading names in the Indian online world like Sify are getting ready to jump in and "participate in the evolution of the worldwide web." Till now, the consortium has virtually no representation from India.
