Apr. 28--With the world becoming a global village, we also have a more international table. From all-American hot-dogs and hamburgers to hummous and couscous from the Mediterranean littoral to the noodles and stir fries of the Far East, we now have a fairly eclectic idea of world cuisine.
But time was when we didn't. When Russian food meant a sticky potato salad with bits of onion and chicken a la Kiev; when pizzas still hadn't arrived, much less been turned into the naan-topped-with-paneer versions we see nowadays. It is to those times I refer when summer comes around and I think of how best to cool off.
My thoughts invariably turn to gazpacho, that amazing cold Spanish soup that my mother discovered in her...
