Nov. 23--BANGALORE, India -- SABMILLER is considering a bid for the beer business of Mohan Meakin (MML) even as the latter's promoter family is expected to decide on the future of the brewing operations within a fortnight, according to informed sources.

The Mohan family and the MML board is scheduled to discuss the restructuring mooted by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), and is likely to take a call on whether or not to retain the beer business.

SABMiller, among the world's top three brewers, may enter the fray depending on the assets that are put on the table, said informed sources. "We are not in negotiations at the moment," a company spokesperson told ET from London.
