Heineken subsidiary bids for MML beer business.

Jan. 10--BANGALORE, India -- It is likely to be a two-way race for Mohan Meakins Ltd's beer business with Asia-Pacific Breweries (APB), the Singapore-arm of Heineken, joining the fray with SABMiller. Informed sources said APB has put in a bid for MML's beer assets.

Sources said the bid process may not attract more global brewers even though the promoter family has made the deadline for confirming the interest flexible on account of the long year-end holidays for the international companies. It must be mentioned that the names of other brewing giants such as InBev and Carlsberg were heard in the run-up to the bidding.
