Intel's poor results spark slowdown fears.

Jan. 20--NEW DELHI -- Intel's disappointing results have set alarm bells ringing of a possible slowdown in the global PC market. According to Wall Street analysts, Intel's poor performance could be the beginning of a slowdown, both in the PC and technology space. However, the domestic PC industry believes that it will not be impacted as PC penetration in India is still very low.
"The corporate performance of Intel, being the leading player in semi-conductors, is very sensitive to the overall demand in the market. After 14 months of strong demand growth, it has seen an inflection in desktop demand this quarter, which might be an indication of a slowdown in the momentum," says Apjit Walia, MD of New York-based RBC Capital Markets.
