Kleiner Perkins lands up here, to invest in Cleartrip.

Feb. 2--MUMBAI/NEW DELHI -- The big daddy of venture capital fund is finally here. After flirting with India for long, venture capital (VC) fund Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers (KPCB) has finally decided to take the plunge with its first investment in India. The VC fund is making an investment in the travel business through a stake in Cleartrip.com , an online travel portal for India.
KPCB investment is not very large and is said to be in the range of $2.7m to $3m, in the first round. Though, the initial investment is small, the venture is expected to be funded through its business life cycle by KPCB and may suck in larger amount of funds over its lifetime.
Ram Shriram's Sherpalo VC fund is also expected to be a co-investor in the company. The...
