Avaya to make India its operational backbone.

Feb. 11--PUNE, India -- Avaya, a leader in IP telephony, voice messaging and contact centres, focussed on building intelligence into communications networks, is introducing the command centre concept at its Pune centre.

Additionally, it plans to build and support its entire technology footprint at its centre in Pune, which is also its major backbone.

"We want to build the Indian operation as the backbone. We are building the service desk -- the front end -- wherever there is need, but the backbone will not be built globally.

The backbone has depth of technical specialisation and by September '06, the end of the fiscal for us, the Pune centre will be the second largest, after the Denver centre," said Sal Mahbouba, global head, GTS, Avaya....
