Sony Ericsson takes mass market route for handsets.

May 31--NEW DELHI -- Sony Ericsson is taking the mass market route to expand its handset business in India. The mobile handset brand, which had been primarily associated with mid-and high-end mobile handsets, is rolling out its whole portfolio of entry level cellphones under the sub-brand of J series.
The extension of product strategy into the mass end is expected to be a volume driver for its handset sales in India. The company would continue pushing its mid- and high-end phones which sell under the K series, W series and P series.
It expects that its entry level products would surpass the unit sales of its existing portfolio in higher-end segment this year itself given the growth in the entry-level cellphones.
