Accenture to hike headcount in India.

Jan. 30--BANGALORE, India -- Global IT major Accenture is all set to hike its headcount to 35,000 people in India by August this year. In a first of sorts among MNC IT companies, this milestone will mean that the company's Indian operations will overtake its US headcount (expected to be about 30,000 people in same period) and become the largest employee hub for Accenture worldwide. The company has 1.46 lakh people globally, expected to increase to 1.6 lakh this fiscal.

Company CEO William D Green, while being generous with his praises on the team here, stating jocularly -- "this (the Indian operation's growth) seems to be too good to be true" -- said that India is a key country for Accenture overall, a critical element in our Global Delivery Network in...
