Marks & Spencer sourcing big from India.

Aug. 18--BANGALORE, India -- British retailer Marks & Spencer (M&S) has joined the likes of Wal-Mart who are keen to increase their sourcing of products and services out of India. "South Asia, including India, is key as this geography accounts for 25 percent of our global sourcing," said Venu Nair, regional head, south Asia, M & S.

While refusing to give out specific numbers, Mr Nair said that the sourcing out of India was witnessing a growth of 100 percent during the last two years. "We expect to maintain our growth rate though it would not be as high as 100 percent. Currently, 85 percent of our sourcing is textile/apparel with the balance being accounted for by footwear and other products," Mr Nair added.
