Revised EIB Statute is part of new EU Treaty - which is subject to ratification 
 
The Statute of the European Investment Bank ("EIB"), originally laid down in a 
protocol contained in the 1957 Treaty of Rome, has been revised and is 
contained as Protocol 5 in the new EU Treaty establishing a Constitution for 
Europe ("the new Treaty"). 
 
Before entering into force, the new Treaty, signed today in Rome, is subject to 
ratification by all EU Member States. The new EIB Statute will become effective 
when the Treaty enters into force (in accordance with Article IV-447 of the new 
Treaty).
