American Express Reports Record Earnings and Revenues for Fourth Quarter
and Full Year 2004
Results Reflect Strong Growth in Cardmember Spending
and Excellent Credit Quality
NEW YORK, Jan. 25 -- American Express Company today reported record net
income of $896 million for the fourth quarter, up 17 percent from $763 million a
year ago. Diluted earnings per share (EPS) rose to $0.71, up 20 percent from
$0.59 a year ago.
