Colgate Announces Strong 4th Quarter and Year, Exceeding Expectations
Volume, Pricing, Operating Profitability and Net Profitability All Up
NEW YORK, Jan. 25, 2006 -- Colgate-Palmolive Company (NYSE: CL) today
announced a continuation of the strong momentum that built throughout 2005. All
operating divisions experienced volume growth. Sales and unit volume, as
reported including divestments, grew 3.5% and 2.5%, respectively. Worldwide
sales, excluding divestments, were up 5.5% on unit volume growth of 4.5%, on top
of 9.0% volume growth in the year ago quarter. Global pricing rose 2.0%, the
largest increase in 21 quarters, and foreign exchange was negative 1.0%.
