NIE ACCEPTS FINAL PROPOSALS FOR
TRANSMISSION AND DISTRIBUTION PRICE CONTROL

Viridian's subsidiary, Northern Ireland Electricity plc (NIE), has accepted the
final proposals published (1) today by the Northern Ireland Authority for
Energy Regulation (NIAER) in connection with the five year price control to
apply to NIE's transmission and distribution (T&D) business with effect from 1
April 2007 (RP4).
As part of its acceptance, NIE has agreed to work to a capital expenditure
budget for RP4 of [pounds sterling]312m (2), in line with NIAER's consultation paper of 9 June
