The US beverage industry in 1996 saw an increase in beer consumption as craft brewery sales rose to 4.7 million barrels, bringing total beer production to 180 million barrels. Liqueur consumption remain stagnant and Coca-Col and Pepsi battled for dominance in the soft drink sphere. The Top 100 beverage companies, meanwhile, are led by The Coca-Cola Co, Nestle SA and Pepsico. Anheuser-Busch Inc and The Seagram Co round out the largest five based on sales.
