Pepsi Puerto Rico CONTINUES BUYING SPREE.

Pepsi-Cola Puerto Rico Bottling Co. has joined forces with Delta Beverage Group and Dakota Beverage to become a new, publicly traded company called Pepsi Americas, based in Toa Baja, Puerto Rico. The new company, with combined 1998 sales of $530 million and about 550 employees, packages and distributes soft drinks in nine states, Puerto Rico, the U.S.

Virgin Islands and other parts of the Caribbean. The company is now the fourth-largest Pepsi bottler and one of the consolidating bottlers in the Pepsi system. This year the Puerto Rican unit purchased bottlers in Jamaica and the Bahamas. PepsiCo owns a 24-percent stake in the company.
