Wine.com SWALLOWED.(acquired by eVinyard Inc.)(Brief Article)

Beverage Industry, May, 2001

At the end of April, Wine.com was swished and swallowed by one-time competitor eVineyard Inc. Although eVineyard, Portland, Ore., is comparatively a smaller company, it raised about 10 times as much venture capital as wine.com and had many more employees, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. And in a time when dot-com companies are struggling, it's the cash that counts.

Wine.com Inc. was not entirely sold to eVineyard, rather the wine.com domain name, related trademarks, Web site content, software, intellectual property and goodwill, according to eVineyard. The purchase of selected assets owned by Wine.com Inc. specifically excludes any liabilities.
