Working to create a national dairy and specialty foods company with $10 billion in annual sales, Dallas-based Suiza Foods Corp. and Dean Foods Co., Franklin Park, Ill., plan to divest five additional plants to resolve regulatory issues related to the companies' pending merger. After years of contemplating a potential merger, the two companies -- that lay claim to well know beverages including Dean's Milk and its famous Chugs, as well as White Wave and Silk soymilk --are nearing the end of the anti-trust hurdles with federal regulators.

Suiza also expects to modify the terms of its buyout of the minority interest in its dairy group held by Dairy Farmers of America.

Suiza and Dean expect to complete their merger before the end of 2001, though completion...
