Heineken N.V., Amsterdam, announced Don Blaustein has taken over as president and chief executive officer of Heineken USA, White Plains, N.Y., following the departure of Andy Thomas. Thomas had been at the helm for the launch of Heineken Premium Light as well as the category signing of a 10-year import agreement with Mexican brewer FEMSA. In company statements, Thomas commented, "This decision has been difficult for me. However, it has gradually become apparent that the company and I do not share exactly the same perspectives on the business. We have therefore mutually and amicably concluded that this is the best way forward."
