Most firms won't rush to upgrade their PCs to Windows Vista, Microsoft's new operating system, slated for release this year. For many companies, Windows XP will remain the operating system of choice for the next two years or so. Their IT staffs aren't yet trained to service Vista, and a lot of older software isn't compatible with it. Plus buyers want all of the kinks worked out of the system first.
But as Vista takes hold, users will find many handy features:
Better protection from hackers, limiting security breaches.
Encrypted files for safety in case the machine is stolen or lost.
A simpler interface. No more plowing through a long start menu.
Transparent windows, allowing users to see many programs at once.
