Google's new spam filtering software will bring down prices.(BUSINESS TECH)
Kiplinger Letter, The, March, 2008
Google's new spam filtering software will bring down prices. After buying Postini, Google is converting that firm's customers from on-site service at $30 to $100 per user each year to online service for just $3 to $25. Competitors will likely scramble to match it.
Message control is more important than ever. Aggressive spammers, having trouble fooling consumers, are more inventive in their efforts. Some trick victims into clicking on Web links or PDF attachments that allow senders to steal personal data or commandeer computers.
Spammers are choosing their online targets with greater care. Wrongdoers obtain lists of CEOs and send personally tailored e-mail aimed at getting them to lower their guard so they fall into the trap.
