Employees sue Town & Country-based Charter over car tasks

A Fair Labor Standards Act lawsuit against Charter Communications has been certified as a national collective action.

The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court in Madison, Wis., seeks unpaid wages and overtime pay for roughly 8,000 current and former employees of the cable TV company who were assigned company vehicles and drove them home.

The employees say they should have been paid for performing routine maintenance on the vehicles and for traveling to and from home, loading and unloading equipment and performing other related tasks.
