PROJECT OVERVIEW: The local THE ELECTRICITY CORP. recently awarded a power plant expansion contract to NATIONAL CONTRACTING CO. (NCC) of Saudi Arabia. According to the terms of the award, NCC will be responsible for upgrading an existing facility at Hail in the northern region of Saudi Arabia. Construction plans call for the installation of 2-58 Mw, frame-7, gas turbines to be supplied by GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. (GE) of the U.S. The Hail plant has a current installed production capacity of 400 Mw consisting of 5-80 Mw units. The cost of the planned upgrade project has been pegged at $54,000,000. As things currently stand, construction work was tentatively scheduled to begin in mid-March 1999. And, project completion is slated for 3 years later. NATIONAL CONTRACTING...
