PROJECT OVERVIEW:

NATIONALNA ELEKTRICHESKA KOMPANIA (NEK), the state-owned utility of Bulgaria, currently imports more than 40% of its energy requirements from a power plant located in Kosloduy, Russia. As a result, NEK recently awarded a contract to modernize the said nuclear power station to a French/German/Russian joint venture operating under the name of EUROPEAN CONSORTIUM KOSLODUY (ECK).

The partners in the planned undertaking include Germany-based SIEMENS POWER GENERATION GROUP (KWU), a subsidiary of SIEMENS AG, which will act as lead partner, in conjunction with FRAMATOME of France and the local TOMENERGOEXPORT.
