PROJECT OVERVIEW:
The local state-owned ELETRONORTE is currently gearing-up to build a new power complex in Brazil. The facility in question, dubbed the Tucurui II hydroelectric project is expected to cost about $420,000,000 to build. In so doing, ELETRONORTE recently awarded a construction contract to an international joint venture operating under the name of CETUX CONSTRUCTION CONSORTIUM.
The partners in the planned undertaking include Belgium-based ABB ALSTOM POWER and the local ODEBRECH and its subsidiary TECNICA NACIONAL DE ENGENHARIA LTDA. (TENENGE) in conjunction with INEPAR. Construction plans call for expanding power generating capacity by 4,200 Mw. In so doing, the partnership is expected to install 11 additional 375 Mw units. The...
