PROJECT OVERVIEW:

The local KOWLOON CANTON RAILWAY CORP. recently awarded a railway upgrade project to a Hong Kong/Japanese 50:50 joint venture. The partners in the planned infrastructure works include GAMMON CONSTRUCTION LTD. of Hong Kong and Japan-based NISHIMATSU CONSTRUCTION CO. LTD.

According to the terms of the award, the partners will be responsible for: - Completing the Tsim Sha Tsui section of KOWLOON's East Rail

Extension project; - Building the new Tsim Sha Tsui Station. This project is valued

at $178,000,000.

The total cost to complete the upgrade works has been pegged at $290,000,000.
