PROJECT OVERVIEW

The increased effectiveness of coal to fire power stations has prompted the local AES GENER, a subsidiary of US-based AES CORP., to consider coal as opposed to gas for power generation. According to Louis Felipe Ceron, AES GENER Chief Executive Officer, coal represents secure energy both for the short and long term.

As a result, AES GENER now has 2 planned coal-fired power plants undergoing the environmental permitting process. Construction plans under consideration call for building 2 units having an installed aggregate generating capacity of 450 Mw.
