PROJECT OVERVIEW:
A Japanese joint venture, operating under the name of COJAAL, began work on a major highway project in Algeria in September 2006. The partners in the planned undertaking include KAJIMA CORP., TAISEI CORP., HAZAMA CORP., NISHIMATSU CONSTRUCTION CO. LTD. & ITOCHU CORP.
According to the terms of the award, COJAAL will be responsible for building: - The eastern section of the east-west highway that will consist of 399 km-long, 6-lane, segment; - 190 bridges and viaducts; - 5 tunnels.
The entire East-West Highway development will extend 1,216 kms and ensure the link between Annaba in the northeast and Tlemcen in the northwest and pass directly through 24 provinces that will enable linking Algeria to Tunisia and Morocco. The...
