Investment advisers are profiting from the reorganizations occurring in the pharmaceutical industry in response to increased demand for cheaper drugs and lower health care costs. Most of the international mergers and acquisitions (M&A) for the first nine months of 1994 have a predominantly transatlantic theme, mirroring the strength of US M&A activity for the year. Among the top advisers that have aided in cross-border deals are Goldman Sachs and Co., Morgan Stanley and Co Inc., Wasserstein Perella and Co. Inc., Kleinwort Benson Ltd., Lehman, SG Warburg, Barings PLC, Schroder Investment Management Ltd., Enskilda Ventures and Merrill Lynch and Co Inc.

This year's billion dollar M&A deals have a strongly transatlantic flavour.
