One statistic you will not find in the mass of data produced by Credit Suisse First Boston and Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette to explain their pending merger: the number of DU directors and staff who have been granted a taste of the action in the highly successful private equity and mezzanine funds run by the firm's US merchant banking operation.
