Here's an oddity: a new financial product that is actually worth a puff -- and isn't getting it from a financial press that may feel it has been fooled once too often by the spin doctors of Wall St and the City But exchange-traded funds (ETFs) may be the next new, new thing -- particularly in view of the backlash against active investment management in the UK as a result of the Sandier report. (And possibly following publication of a new CSFI report by Kevin James, Waiting for Ariadne, in which he argues that, to achieve the same value that one would get from investing [pounds sterling]1 directly into the market, a UK investor who uses an active fund manager would have to invest [pounds sterling]1.80.)
