Widmeyer Recognized for Support of WVU

MORGANTOWN - Gov. Bob Wise presented the Distinguished West Virginian award this week to Scott D. Widmeyer, a 1974 alumnus and strong supporter of the West Virginia University P.I. Reed School of Journalism,

Widmeyer began his career as a newspaper reporter but went on to garner press coverage for clients across fields including education reform, health care, campaign finances, technology and trade.

He founded Widmeyer Communications in 1988 with just three employees. The full-service communications firm has since grown to nearly 90 employees with offices in Washington, D.C., and New York City and has become one of the largest independent public relations firms in the United States.
