Harrison Schools Build Distance Learning System

NUTTER FORT - In a project that will connect more than 10,000 students and teachers with each other and the world, the Harrison County Board of Education received an award of nearly $350,000 from the U.S. Department of Agriculture at a check presentation ceremony March 21.

"When President Bush was inaugurated, he set some real aggressive goals for people like myself that involved deployment of broadband to rural communities throughout the United States," said Ron Mellon, field representative 'Or the USDA Rural Utilities Service.

"But he went farther than that," Mellon continued, "and said it wasn't just getting broadband to rural communities - it was providing services to those people through those broadband services."
