WVU Reports Strong Sales On Bowl Tickets

The West Virginia University ticket office has sold its initial allotment of 12,750 Toyota Gator Bowl tickets.

Matt Wells, assistant director of marketing at the WVU Athletic Department, said the university has sold a total of more than 13,000 tickets to the Jan. 1 match-up between the Mountaineers and Georgia Tech in Jacksonville, Fla.

That number, Wells said, doesn't include certain ticket holders, including the marching band, university officials and families of WVU players.

After selling out of the first allotment, Wells said, WVU requested 3,000 more tickets. Those are still selling at $50 each, and he expects tickets to still be available the week of the game.
