On his first paying job: "I was a gift wrapper at a kitchen store called The Gift Gallery in Oregon. I am still the one nominated to wrap gifts at home during the holidays."

His story: Andrew McCanse Wright, a Corvallis, Ore., native, earned an undergraduate degree in politics from Washington and Lee University in 1995. After that, he became an assistant to then Vice President Al Gore's chief of staff at the White House. He also worked on the Clinton/Gore campaign in 1996 in Oregon.

He earned his law degree at West Virginia University in 2000. Wright was Gore's assistant council and then general counsel to the Gore transition office out of power in 2001. He then joined the law...
