Magazine Lists Centra Bank As Fastest-Growing in the U.S.

MORGANTOWN - The fastest growing bank in the nation is West Virginia's own Contra Bank, according to Entrepreneur's Hot 500 for 2007.

The 13th annual list of fastest-growing companies appears in the magazine's August issue.

"We were pleased to be placed No. 31, the 31st fastest growing company in America," said Douglas J. Leech, chairman, CEO and founder of the Morgantown-based bank. "And that includes all companies - biosciences, dot-coms."

Contra Bank placed highest among the 10 banks on the list. The ranking is based primarily on a several-year accounting of growth in capital, sales, revenues and employment.

The bank's rapid rise began when it opened its doors in February 2000 with a new business model - or, some might say, an old one.
