PSC Opens 11 Days of Power Line Hearings

CHARLESTON - Before a packed house, the West Virginia Public Service Commission started 11 days of hearings Jan. 9 on a proposed power transmission line in the northern part of the state.

The hearings concern plans by Allegheny Energy Inc. to construct the $1.3 billion Trans Allegheny Interstate Power Line, which will pass through Monongalia, Preston, Tucker, Grant, Hardy and Hampshire counties in West Virginia.

Property owners and some elected officials in that part of the state have raised concerns about the power line at previously conducted public hearings. Those scheduled to testify at the hearing include company officials, property owners and other concerned parties. The hearings are scheduled to conclude Jan. 19.
