PSC Wraps up 11 Days of Power Line Hearings

CHARLESTON - The West Virginia Public Service Commission ended nearly 40 hours of hearings about a proposed power line project at about 3 p.m. Jan. 19.

Now commissioners have until May 2 to decide whether to grant permission for Allegheny Energy Inc. to construct the Trans Allegheny Interstate Line, which would cross six counties in northern West Virginia, said Sarah Robertson, PSC spokeswoman.

"(Next) there will be a briefing process when all parties can submit initial briefs and then reply briefs," she said. "But the clock is ticking for the May 2 deadline."

Commissioners Jon W. McKinney and Edward H. Staats presided over 11 days of testimony in the case. Interveners cross-examined witnesses who previously had submitted written, sworn testimony. Commissioner...
