WVAWC Looks at Solutions for Unaccounted for Water

The consumer advocate division of West Virginia's Public Service Commission has raised questions of West Virginia American Water Co.'s level of unaccounted for water, and representatives of the water company have said they are studying realistic solutions.

"There was an agreement reached in our settlement where we would do what I would call a fairly comprehensive unaccounted for water study to determine where are the areas causing the biggest problem and how much capital investment we're going to make every year," said Mike Miller, head of American Water's rates department. "We at West Virginia American Water Co. have had a pretty solid leak detection program since the early 1980s."
