FIRE-SAFE LAMINATE FOR RAILWAY COACHES

Permali Gloucester Ltd has introduced a new high-impact low-smoke composite for use in railway passenger rolling stock. The material is a self-extinguishing modified phenolic glass laminate which is structurally self-supporting and has a decorative melamine surface.

Permaglass 22MFM/1, as it is designated, has been developed from the company's expertise in making aerospace laminates to the stringent standards of fire resistance imposed by the CAA (Civil Aviation Authority) and FAA (Federal Aviation Agency). The new material is designed to replace conventional coated aluminium products still widely used in the railway industry.
